Notes of contemporaries, telling about the events in which the author took part or which are known to him from eyewitnesses, and about people with whom the author was familiar. An important feature of the memoirs is the claim to the authenticity of the recreated past and, accordingly, the documentary nature of the text, although in reality not all memoirs are truthful and accurate.
